The 1st International Conference on Zero Carbon Buildings Today and in the Future, 11-12 September 2014

Birmingham City University will hold the 1st International Conference on Zero Carbon Buildings Today and in the Future at its City Centre Campus on 11th and 12th September 2014. This will be followed by a technical visit to a ground-breaking Birmingham Zero Carbon House on Saturday 13th September.

A Decade of Change in House Building

A new report presented to the 2016 Zero Carbon Task Force predicts the future of housebuilding and calls for an urgent upskilling for all parts of the new homes industry to deal with a decade of change.

Home Building Skills 2020 is a joint initiative between NHBC, Zero Carbon Hub and ConstructionSkills, supported by the Home Builders Federation. It was set up 18 months ago to investigate the likely changes affecting the new homes industry and to advise on how the various professional, trade and technical roles should prepare in terms of training and qualifications.

Allowable Solutions for Zero Carbon Homes – towards a workable framework

Zero Carbon Hub today launches proposals for a delivery framework for Allowable Solutions. The proposed framework shows how developers will be able to reach the zero carbon standard set for 2016 and is a direct response to the Housing Minister’s call in February this year for a workable approach to Allowable Solutions, the third and final part of the Zero Carbon Homes Policy hierarchy1.
