Fabric First Conference

Rob Pannell, Managing Director of the Zero Carbon Hub will be speaking at a one day conference on the 26th February 2014 and will be addressing the 'Fabric First' approach to  Zero Carbon construction

The full day event will also cover a range of other topics including changes to the to Welsh Building Regulations and a number Fabric First construction case studies.

Cost of Building to Zero Carbon Drops

New analysis produced by Sweett Group for the Zero Carbon Hub shows that the additional costs associated with building to the proposed Zero Carbon Standard have declined significantly since 2011, and are expected to continue to fall as we approach 2020.

Annual Household Energy Spend

Research first published by the Zero Carbon Hub and the NHBC Foundation in November 2013 shows that new homes built to energy efficiency standards, announced by the Government in 2013, could be up to 57% cheaper to run compared to ‘improved’ Victorian homes of a similar size.

Welsh government reaffirms zero carbon ambitions at Nearer to Zero events

Over the course of two Nearer to Zero events in Cardiff and Llandudno last week, members of the Welsh government and civil service reaffirmed a clear ambition to reach the reduction in CO2 emissions from the housing sector that is mandated in EU legislation.

Industry Response from Hub-led Consultation Events Now Available

During September and October of this year, the Hub undertook a series of "Have your Say" events across England. The goal was to elicit the views of industry stakeholders on a number of important questions on the Government's Allowable Solutions and Housing Standards Review consultations.

The results from the events have been collated and published. A copy of the report fed into DCLG's official consultation process.

DCLG launch Allowable Solutions consultation

DCLG today launched a consultation on a core component of the zero carbon definition – Allowable Solutions.

The consultation offers industry the opportunity to comment on key considerations for a viable Allowable Solutions mechanism. To date, a number of potential frameworks have been proposed. Now, with three years until the 2016 zero carbon homes target, government is seeking feedback from industry to help shape an effective framework for implementation of Allowable Solutions.
